Sherpa Orchestrator (docker)#

Preparing Sherpa Orchestrator (downloading files)#

At this stage, all required components for installing Sherpa Orchestrator will be downloaded: client files and Docker images.

Downloading all required files#

Downloading client files#

# Скачайте архив с клиентскими файлами через командную строку
curl -L -OJ \
https://downloads.sherparpa.ru/SherpaOrchestrator/docker/orchestrator-client-files/latest
💡 Notes on downloading client files

curl -L -OJ - downloads the file from the server

  • -L - follows redirects
  • -O - saves the file with its original name
  • -J - uses the filename provided by the server

Downloading Docker images#

Download the following files from the command line or in a browser:

Main Docker images:

  • orchestrator_*.tar.gz - main web server for the orchestrator with API and UI
  • orchestrator-db_*.tar.gz - MariaDB/MySQL database (download if using the mariadb profile)
  • orchestrator-pg_*.tar.gz - PostgreSQL database (download if using the pg profile)
  • orchestrator-nginx_*.tar.gz - nginx server
  • orchestrator-websocket_*.tar.gz - websocket server
  • orchestrator-vnc-proxy_*.tar.gz - proxy server for VNC connections (optional)
  • orchestrator-vault_*.tar.gz - Vault for storing secrets (optional, vault profile)

Image selection rules:

  • Always download: orchestrator, orchestrator-nginx, orchestrator-websocket
  • With a bundled database, download only one matching image: orchestrator-db (MariaDB) or orchestrator-pg (PostgreSQL). No Orchestrator database image is needed when connecting to an external database.
  • Download orchestrator-vnc-proxy only if VNC access is needed
  • Download orchestrator-vault only if the vault profile is used

WINDOWS: if downloading from a browser, open the links below and the download will start automatically without running the curl command

# Вариант 1 (mariadb): MariaDB/MySQL

# Вариант 2 (pg): PostgreSQL

# Опционально: только если нужен VNC proxy
curl -L -OJ https://downloads.sherparpa.ru/SherpaOrchestrator/docker/orchestrator-vnc-proxy/latest

# Опционально: только если нужен Vault (profile vault)
curl -L -OJ https://downloads.sherparpa.ru/SherpaOrchestrator/docker/orchestrator-vault/latest

Expected result: All required files for installing Sherpa Orchestrator will appear in the current directory.

Expected time: 10-30 minutes depending on internet speed.

Possible issues while downloading:#

  • Download error: Check your internet connection and verify the URL
  • Not enough space: Archives can be large (from 500 MB to 5+ GB), so make sure there is enough free space
  • Corrupted files: If the download was interrupted, try downloading the file again
  • Access rights: Make sure the user has write permission in the current directory

Verifying a successful download:#

# Проверьте наличие всех файлов
ls -la *.tar.gz *.tar *.tgz 2>/dev/null | wc -l

# Проверьте размеры файлов (должны быть больше 0)
ls -lh *.tar.gz *.tar *.tgz 2>/dev/null

# Проверьте целостность архивов (опционально)
file *.tar.gz *.tar *.tgz
💡 Notes on verifying the download

**ls -la *.tar.gz .tar .tgz 2>/dev/null | wc -l - counts the downloaded files

  • ls -la - shows detailed file information
  • *.tar.gz *.tar *.tgz - archive search patterns
  • 2>/dev/null - hides errors if files are not found
  • | wc -l - counts the number of lines (files)

**ls -lh *.tar.gz .tar .tgz 2>/dev/null - shows file sizes

  • -l - long format
  • -h - human-readable size format

**file *.tar.gz .tar .tgz - determines file types

  • Verifies that the files are valid archives

Transferring Files to the Target Server#

After successfully downloading all files, transfer them to the target Linux server where Sherpa Orchestrator will be installed.

File transfer methods#

Use any convenient method to transfer the files to the target server:

  • SFTP/SCP client: FileZilla, WinSCP, Cyberduck
  • Command line: bash # Скопировать файлы на удаленный сервер scp *.tar.gz *.tar *.tgz user@target-server:/path/to/installation/directory/

💡 Notes on transferring files via the command line

**scp *.tar.gz .tar .tgz user@target-server:/path/to/installation/directory/ - copies files to the remote server - scp - secure copy - *.tar.gz *.tar *.tgz - file patterns to copy - user@target-server - connection credentials - /path/to/installation/directory/ - destination path on the server

  • Network share copy: If the server is available over SMB/CIFS
  • USB drive: Physical transfer of the media
  • Cloud storage: Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, followed by upload to the server

Verifying file transfer#

After transferring the files to the target server, verify their integrity:

# Подключитесь к целевому серверу
ssh user@target-server

# Перейдите в директорию с файлами
cd /path/to/installation/directory

# Проверьте наличие всех файлов
ls -la *.tar.gz *.tar *.tgz 2>/dev/null | wc -l

# Проверьте размеры файлов
ls -lh *.tar.gz *.tar *.tgz 2>/dev/null

# Проверьте свободное место на диске
df -h .
💡 Notes on verifying file transfer

ssh user@target-server - connects to the remote server over SSH

  • ssh - secure shell
  • user@target-server - connection credentials

cd /path/to/installation/directory - changes to the directory with the files

**ls -la *.tar.gz .tar .tgz 2>/dev/null | wc -l - counts the transferred files

**ls -lh *.tar.gz .tar .tgz 2>/dev/null - checks file sizes

df -h . - shows free disk space

  • -h - human-readable format
  • . - current directory

Expected result: All files should be transferred successfully to the target server without corruption.
